• Hericium erinaceus

Also known as Lion’s Mane, Hericium erinaceus is a well-known mushroom that has been studied over the years. It is a nutritive substance with 32 minerals, polysaccharides, polypeptides and other substances that research shows to provide positive effects across the brain and body. It is also an excellent source of Potassium, Zinc, Iron, Selenium and all the primary amino acids. In addition, the constituents of the mushroom, hericones and erinacines have shown to increase the levels of Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) within the brain. NGF is a protein that helps to generate, grow, repair and restore neurons.
Over the centuries, Lion’s mane has traditionally been used within Chinese culture as an aid to the kidneys, liver, spleen, heart and stomach. It was believed to help restore vigour and vitality. Since, research has looked at Lion’s Mane’s applications for memory and cognitive support.

• Citicoline

Citicoline (CPD Choline) has several modes of action. It is

o a component of cell membranes,
o can repair and rebuild cell membranes of neurons.
o involved in increasing dopamine levels in the central nervous system and increases the neurotransmitter Acetylcholine.
o both a precursor of Acetylcholine (a neurotransmitter very important for your memory) and a component of healthy cell membranes.
o an excellent complement to other nootropics. It may enhance the effect of a nootropic and also ensures that side effects such as headaches do not occur or occur to a much lesser degree.

Research has shown Choline may help support cognitive functioning and maintain both memory and brain function.

• Cordyceps Sinensis

Cordyceps is a mushroom, traditionally used over the years in traditional Chinese medicine. Cordyceps has also been used by endurance athletes who saw an improvement in energetic alertness, and performance. At Mindscopic®, we are big fans of Cordyceps Sinensis as a single nutrient and for in our beloved nootropic formula, Clear Focus® Caffeine Free.
