We used Maca-X6 from Organic Traditions, which contains the 3 most elite types of Organic Maca: Black, Purple and the most commonly found Yellow Maca. Traditionally, Maca has been used by the Inca Peruvian warriors for their benefits in endurance and energy levels. Maca has been known for its support in balancing the hormones and also supporting our adrenal glands, those glands which produce our stress hormone (cortisol)
Spotlight on Protein:
What happens when we consume protein? When protein is consumed, the body breaks it down into amino acids which are the building blocks of all proteins. As protein is essential for life, other foods such as fruits and vegetables need to be consumed to balance the body. Some of the amino acids are referred to as ‘essential’ since the body cannot synthesise them and therefore they must be obtained through the diet. Other amino acids are considered non-essential since they can actually be made by the body from other amino acids, and hence wouldn’t need to be replenished through the daily diet.
Why do we need protein?
Proteins are made of amino acids, the building blocks of all living organisms. Vital for growth and development, protein also helps the body to repair cells and make new cells. It supports energy and is needed for the manufacture of antibodies, enzymes and hormones. Protein also helps to maintain adequate acid-alkali balance within the body. All very important for general health
